GCTI-Factoid-3-3-2014ShoreTel 14.2 was released in January as a general release and added some very nice enhancements.
What’s new for ST14.2

  • Virtual Switch
  • Virtualized Conferencing and Instant Messaging
  • Virtual SIP Trunking
  • Virtual SIParator
  • Improved Security – Apache/PHP
  • Video SDK

Virtual Switches and Virtual Service Appliance (vmware)
ShoreTel 14.2 provides support for the following virtual devices:

  • Virtual Trunk Switch
  • Virtual Phone Switch
  • Virtual Service Appliance*
  • Virtual SIParator

To support the virtual switches, ShoreTel also provides two new keyed license types:

  • ShoreTel Virtual Switch SIP Trunk License
  • ShoreTel Virtual Switch Phone

The Virtual Service Appliance only requires the appropriate Audio or Web licenses.

NoteNote: * Virtual Phone Switch
The Virtual Phone Switch can be used in a vmware environment as an N+1 Failover switch without Virtual Phone Switch licenses.

Windows Server 2012
ShoreTel 14.2 supports Windows Server 2012, Standard and Datacenter.
Communicator for Windows on Windows Server 2012 Terminal Server (RDS)
ShoreTel supports ShoreTel Communicator for Windows on Windows Server 2012 Terminal Server.

NoteNote:
Starting with Windows Server 2012, Microsoft changed the name of Windows Terminal Services (WTS) to Remote Desktop Services (RDS).

Microsoft® Hyper-V virtual machines (Support for ShoreWare Director and DVS)
Support for ShoreTel servers on Hyper-V 3.0 requires ShoreTel 14.2 or later.

ShoreTel supports the deployment of ShoreTel servers, both Headquarter (HQ) servers and remote (DVS) servers, in Microsoft® Hyper-V virtual machines (VMs) running on the Hyper-V 3.0 platform. Support for ShoreTel servers on Hyper-V 3.0 requires ShoreTel 14.2 or later.

NoteNote: Only the ShoreWare Director and DVS server are supported on Hyper-V

14.2 Added Functions:

14.2 ShoreTel Conferencing Enhancements
Enhancements to ShoreTel Conferencing:

  • Mute on entry option in the Conference add/edit options.
  • Participant options are removed from the Conference Options page.
  • Full screen toggle button added to the toolbar.
  • Downloaded reports and web reports show whether the attendee is a host.
  • Both Java and Windows Presenter share the same locale setting as that of the browser locale.

14.2 ShoreTel Communicator for Windows Enhancements
Communicator for Windows includes two new options on the Telephony Options page (Tools ->Options -> Telephony):

  • WallPaper
  • Ringtone

NoteNote: These new options are not available in ShoreTel Communicator for Web.

ShoreTel 14.2 supports the following operating systems for ShoreTel Communicator for Windows:

  • Windows Vista Business, 32-bit, SP2
  • Windows Vista Enterprise, 32-bit, SP2
  • Windows Vista Business, 64-bit, SP2
  • Windows Vista Enterprise, 64-bit, SP2
  • Windows 7 Professional, 32-bit, SPx1
  • Windows 7 Enterprise, 32-bit, SPx1
  • Windows 7 Professional, 64-bit, SPx1
  • Windows 7 Enterprise, 64-bit, SPx1
  • Unicode support (Double Byte Character)
  • Windows 8 (all versions, including 32 and 64-bit)
  • ShoreTel Communicator for Mac, ShoreTel 14.2 supports Mac OS 10.7, or later.

ShoreTel 14.2 supports the following versions of ShoreTel Enterprise Contact Center:

No Longer Supported (ST14)
The following is a list of ST14 unsupported software and features.
This is not a complete list but is used to capture the main components.

  • Windows 2003 Server
  • Microsoft Office 2003
  • Installation of DVM server from remote install
  • Converged Conferencing prior to 7.1 (Call Handling Mode and Calendar

Integration have been removed and are not supported. Customers desiring this feature will need to migrate to the SA-100/400 or Virtual Service Appliance)

  • Windows XP Professional (with SP3) (32-bit version)
  • Internet Explorer prior to IE8
  • VMware – VSphere ESX/ESXi 4.0
  • ShoreTel Mobility prior to 4.8
  • T.38 with Microsoft Exchange 2007 SIP UM server
  • IP210 IP Phone
  • OCS 2007 – OCS 2007 was no longer supported as of ST 13
